From shortly after I was born, my Auntie had a German Shepherd Dog called Tess.. I don't know how else to describe her other than she was my best friend. She died when I was 9 & it was my first experience of heartbreak - I still haven't fully got over it. After that, I used to read dog encyclopaedias every night (I used to get my dad to test me on how much I knew - sad, I know!), but I was still never allowed my own. My Auntie got a second GSD, Suki, who was was a handful but she helped me along...
